Sports announcer and social media personality Mikee Reyes expressed his disappointment in a Facebook post after being asked to cover his tattoos for an event that he's supposed to attend.

On Aug. 9, Mikee shared screenshots of a conversation where he was asked to wear a long-sleeved shirt to to cover up his tattoos during an event.

The event was said to be a “family day” and that there would be “a lot of kids present.”

Mikee instead declined the project’s invitation, saying that he’s uncomfortable with being asked to cover his tattoos on the job.

“Sorry to hear. I’m not really comfortable with being asked to cover my tattoos to do my job. It’s okay. Sorry, I think I’ll have to pass on this. Hope to work w u guys soon!” his reply said.

Mikee questioned the implication of the long-sleeve shirt requirement on the Facebook post.

“My tattoos make me bad for kids? Pano kung may ma-impart pala sana akong maganda sakanila?” his caption said.

He then ended his post by saying he has already achieved much by being himself, saying “God is too good for us to worry about these things.”

“I’ve already made more friends and achieved more things, being myself, than I could ever have trying to be someone else,” he wrote.

His Facebook post has garnered an estimated 26,000 reactions, 737 comments, and an estimated 7,700 shares.

Mikee's fans were quick to defend his tattoos, saying that tattoos don't define who they are.

"If kids are asked what do they think of people with tattoos, they would only give the most innocent answer they have. only adults put malice onto everything," said one Facebook user.

"Toxic Filipino Culture: Having a tattoo often leads others to assume you are a criminal. It's 2023 na pips."

Mikee, also known on TikTok as “Tito Mikee,” has recently made waves by as TV5’s first fully tattoed sports anchor.
