Nadia Montenegro opens up on real dad of youngest kid
Nadia Montenegro opened up about her youngest daughter's father, who is not her husband, the late former Caloocan mayor Macario "Boy" Asistio Jr.
In a sit-down interview with broadcaster Julius Babao, Nadia was asked about a "social media issue" that Sophia is not the child of Boy. The news headline, "Speculation surrounds Nadia Montenegro amid revelations of Baron Geisler's alleged child," then flashed on the screen.
She didn't explicitly mention Baron's name, but she pointed out that she never hid anything from those who should know.
“‘Yung mga nangyari sa buhay ko in the past, siguro umabot sa 17, 18 years na itinago ko, hindi ko ito itinago sa mga tao na dapat nakakaalam,” she said.
“Hindi ko rin ito itinago sa mga mahal ko sa buhay, hindi ko itinago sa anak ko, kay Boy, at sa mga kapatid ko," she added.
The 52-year-old actress said that while she and her family became the subject of public ridicule, she settled things with her family privately.
"Common sense, guys, sa tingin ninyo, hindi ko inayos ito? Tingin ninyo, hindi ko pinlano ito? Tingin ninyo, hindi ko pinroblema ito?" she said.
“Buhay ko ‘to. Buhay ng anak ko, pangalan ng asawa ko, pangalan ko," she added. "I don’t think I owe anyone an explanation kung ano man ang ginawa ko sa buhay ko."
Nadia noted that she and Boy were on good terms before his passing in 2017. She also pointed out that Sophia was okay with Boy, who loved her daughter dearly.
"Punong-puno ng respeto sa tatay niya, si Boy, sa nagbigay ng pangalan sa kaniya, sa nagpaaral sa kaniya, sa nagmahal sa kaniya," she said of Sophia. “Bakit okay sila? Bakit nagtagal sila ni Boy? Bakit sila okay ng mga anak niya kung may ganito?"
Nadia said she has no regrets in having Sophia, whom she called "the most beautiful girl."
As to whether Sophia is "interested" to establish rapport or communicate with her biological father, Nadia said, "As of now, hindi."
Without mentioning names, she took a swipe at the biological father for his public announcement despite only meeting a few times with Sophia.
"Isang beses pa lamang sila nagkita, biglang in-announce na agad. So, nasaan doon ang intensiyon mo?" she said. "Magkaroon ng relationship o gusto mo lang ang views? Gusto mong mapag-usapan o gusto mong mag-promote?"
Last March, Baron told showbiz insider Ogie Diaz that he has a daughter who he hasn't introduced to the public yet. He didn't name the kid, but noted she looks like him.
Nadia has eight children.
Baron is married to psychologist Jamie Evangelista. They have a four-year-old daughter.
