Filipino ReveLuvs, or fans of K-pop girl group Red Velvet, have had a field day as its member Seulgi shared a photo with a popular local beer.
Seulgi, alongside co-members Wendy and Irene, visited the country to headline a New Year countdown concert called NYE at the 5th: New Year’s Countdown at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
She shared a carousel containing behind the scenes of the event on Jan. 1.
One of the entries that piqued the interest of her Pinoy followers was a photo of her holding a can of San Mig Light.
“San Mig Light? That's so Pinay of [you]!” one user said in the comments section.
“i love SanMig too,” another one said.
“Happy New Year, San Mig Light girlie!” another user added.
Several others dropped crying emojis and wrote haha’s in uppercase as they took delight in Seulgi’s choice of drink.
The 2024 countdown took place along 5th Avenue in BGC, with OPM acts including KZ Tandingan, Zack Tabudlo, and Ely Buendia.
Red Velvet last performed in the Philippines in May as part of their concert tour Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V, less than a year after taking part in an advocacy concert festival Be You: The World Will Adjust in the country in July 2022. They also visited the Philippines in April 2015 and June 2019.
The K-pop group debuted in 2014 under SM Entertainment, which handles other K-pop acts like EXO, Super Junior, SHINee, NCT, and aespa. Red Velvet is known for the hits like Psycho, Feel My Rhythm, Bad Boy, and Zimzalabim.
Seulgi, Wendy, and Irene are part of the group’s so-called “unnie line,” or its oldest members. Irene and Seulgi, meanwhile, comprise Red Velvet’s subunit, which is known to fans as Aseul.
