BGYO takes legal action vs individuals accusing them of bullying, drug use
P-pop boy group BGYO has taken legal action against certain individuals for allegedly spreading false information online against the members.
On Wednesday, June 19, its members Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate went to the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office to file complaints of cyber libel and unjust vexation against some online users who have accused them of bullying, cheating, and drug use, as per an ABS-CBN News report.
The identities and number of individuals the group is filing complaints against have yet to be revealed. Entertainment outlet PEP.ph also said that BGYO is also suing a showbiz personality.
Star Magic legal counsel Atty. Joji Alonso said they are currently cooperating with government agencies and private service providers "to gather evidence and hold these perpetrators accountable for their unlawful behavior."
The agency first made its warning in April that it would take legal action against online attacks being thrown against the boy group as well as the “nation’s girl group” BINI.
"Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying, but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect, both online and in real life," Alonso said in a statement.
BGYO and their management have also not yet issued a statement on the complaints.
The five-member Pinoy pop band, also known as the "Aces of P-Pop," debuted under Star Music in January 2021. They're known for their hit songs Patintero, Tumitigil Ang Mundo, and He's into Her.
