Canadian actor Hayden Christensen revealed that he wanted to be part of more Star Wars projects in the future after he returned as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Disney+ shows Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka.

The 42-year-old actor said that his role reignited a spark in him to work more in the legendary sci-fi franchise.

"I would love to get to do more, and I'd love to get to continue with Star Wars and we'll see," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly's Dagobah Dispatch podcast.

"I don't know what the future holds, and if such an opportunity presents itself, I'll be there with a big smile on my face. And if it doesn't, I feel really grateful for getting to come back and getting to do the work that I did in both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka," he added.

In case you didn't know, Christensen famously played the teenage version of Anakin Skywalker (later turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader) in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), the last two films in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

He recently reprised his role as the Sith Lord in the Disney+ series Ahsoka and Obi-Wan Kenobi, which were "thrilling" experiences for him. The actor also talked about how he now has a greater appreciation for the franchise.

"Every day you get to go work on a Star Wars project, it's really thrilling, and that's never lost on me. When I was doing the prequels, every day I was there, I was very aware of how fortunate I was," Christensen said.

"I think as I've gotten a bit older, I have perhaps a greater appreciation and more of an awareness of the impact of these stories and what they mean to so many people."

The Star Wars luminary also shared his thoughts on how it felt to play Anakin without the involvement of the Star Wars creator George Lucas.

"At first, I felt like I was cheating on him a little bit. But it's a different time for Star Wars now, and I think it's really exciting that we now have this period where there are other storytellers coming in and giving their take on the universe," Christensen said.

While the actor praises how the franchise embraced a new perspective, he stresses that Lucas is still "top of mind for everyone involved."

Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premiered last May 2022, picks up 10 years after the dramatic events of 2005's Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat after his Jedi apprentice, Anakin, turned to the dark side.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka also takes place in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It follows Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's former Jedi apprentice, as she prevents the return of an emerging threat after the fall of the Empire.
