'Rosalinda' star Fernando Carrillo reveals dating Korina Sanchez before
Venezuelan actor Fernando Carrillo said he always found Filipina beauty attractive.
In the Thursday episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the actor talked about his career, his love life, and the actress he wants to work with.
The “King of Talk” asked Fernando if he had ever dated a Filipina before.
“In your four visits to the Philippines, did you date a Filipina?” Boy Abunda asked.
The 57-year-old actor hesitated to answer at first but revealed later on that indeed he had one.
"I don't think I fell in love, but I've always been attracted to the beauty of Filipino women," Fernando said. "I've met some very beautiful women, and I keep meeting beautiful women," he added.
He said it depends on what “date” means, but reveals he once dated a “very smart Filipina.”
“It depends on what ‘date’ means, but I went to dinner with a very smart Filipina. Can I say who it was? Or are we going to get in trouble,” he said.
“I have huge respect for Korina Sanchez. She’s a good friend, and I respect her very much,” the actor revealed.
The Rosalinda star further shared that it happened during his visit to the country.
“We did an amazing interview once upon a time in Miami, and then I came to the Philippines once,” he recalled.
“And we went to have dinner with some friends. That we can call a date. But she’s a dear friend whom I respect, and I admire very much,” he added.
Other than Korina, Fernando also expressed his admiration for other Filipinas, namely Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss World 2013 Megan Young—his co-judge during the local pageantry—and Carla Abellana, who played Rosalinda in the Filipino remake of the hit Mexican series.
“Carla is an amazing actress. I was so happy because she did Rosalinda here in the Philippines,” he said.
He also revealed that they were supposed to do a project together but did not push through.
“There was a project and it never happened that we were going to do, maybe a film together. You know Boy better than I do that everything happens in God’s perfect timing, in His precise timing,” the actor said.
“And I hope that one day I get the chance to work with Carla and with Filipino talent because I think it would be amazing,” he added.
Fernando is best known for his role in the telenovela Rosalinda as a leading man to Thalia’s character. He is back in the country to do endorsements and create a reality show to form a P-pop group composed of three boys and three girls.
