Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck engaged again after breaking it off in 2002
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez or "Bennifer" have been engaged again—after breaking it off in 2002, calling it quits in 2004, and reuniting in 2021 after almost two decades of going on their own lives and having their respective partners and children.
Lopez made the announcement through a short video in her On the JLo fan newsletter.
In the nine-second video, which was also uploaded by her Instagram fan account @jlodiary which has over 15,500 followers, a tearful Lopez shows her admiring the green diamond ring, as a voiceover of hers whispers, "You're perfect."
Earlier in the day, she teased the "major announcement" on Facebook, telling fans that she has an "exciting and special story" to share with them.
Affleck and Lopez were among the biggest celebrity couples in the 2000s. Following their highly publicized breakup, they moved on and entered their respective relationships: Lopez with ex-husband singer-songwriter Marc Anthony and Affleck with ex-wife actress Jennifer Garner.
Lopez and Anthony have twins, while Affleck and Garner have three kids.
Despite their own relationships, Lopez and Affleck have been on good terms throughout the years.
Lopez dated other men after her marriage with Anthony was divorced, with the last one being baseball player Alex Rodriguez from February 2017 to April 2021.
After her breakup with Rodriguez, she and Affleck were reportedly spotted together again and has since been inseparable. Their rekindled relationship become Instagram official the following July, with Lopez posting photos that included Affleck kissing her.
