KC Concepcion replaces Toni Gonzaga as lead actress in New York film 'Asian Persuasion'
Actress KC Concepcion is taking over Toni Gonzaga as the lead actress in the New York film Asian Persuasion.
According to Variety, Gonzaga left the production due to schedule conflicts. Concepcion will be stepping in as the lead actress opposite Filipino-American actor Dante Basco.
Earlier in February, the TV host also stepped down from hosting Pinoy Big Brother after her controversial appearance at former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio's proclamation rally.
The 37-year-old actress announced her casting on Instagram on April 13, writing: "Thank you for joining us on this new journey. Grateful to be part of this Asian-American project, with our amazing cast & crew."
On her birthday on April 7, Concepcion wrote about how she's back on set and acting in New York, which she described as "another dream come true."
Directed and produced by Filipino Tony Award-winning producer Jhett Tolentino, Asian Persuasion follows the story of a chef who cooks up a scheme to marry off his ex-wife so he can avoid substantial alimony obligations. But as he executes his plans, he realizes he wants a second chance with his ex.
It will star other Filipino actors, including Aple.de.Ap, Yam Concepcion, Tony Labrusca, Rachel Alejandro, Rex Navarette, Paolo Montalban, and other Asian talents like Kevin Kreider, Scarlett Sher, Celia Au, Geneva Carr, and newcomer Jax Bacani.
