NewJeans’ Danielle rumored as Ariel's voice actress for Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Korean dub
Disney Korea has teased the voice actress of Ariel for the Korean dub of the upcoming Disney live-action film The Little Mermaid.
The only clue is a silhouette that resembles NewJeans' Danielle from the girl group's Hype Boy era.
Both South Korean news outlets and social media users have speculated that Danielle will voice Ariel.
Most of the top comments on Disney Korea's official posts are guessing that it's indeed the K-pop idol.
Meanwhile, those with public Facebook and Instagram accounts who comment correctly are eligible to receive a "special gift" as part of Disney Korea's giveaway. Prizes include official tote bags, tumblers, and hats.
Netizens, however, have criticized the rumored casting of Danielle due to their problem with her Korean pronunciation whether it's singing or speaking.
Danielle is a Korean-Australian singer who was born in Newcastle, New South Wales. At the age of 3, she and her family moved to South Korea and remained there until 2012. Danielle would return in 2019 after passing her current company's global audition to become a K-pop trainee.
Under NewJeans, Danielle became an ambassador for both Burberry and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty.
Aside from setting local and international music records for K-pop, NewJeans has become the ambassador of brands like McDonald's and Levi's, as well as the South Korean capital of Seoul.
The girls' debut track, Attention, started the group on its path to success, setting the bar higher each time with hits like Hype Boy, Ditto, and OMG.
