Song Kang tears up in fan meet after showered by Pinoy love: 'You give me so much energy'
Korean actor Song Kang could not help but get emotional after he was enveloped by all the love from his Pinoy fans during his first fan meeting in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum on March 5.
Best known for his lead roles in hit K-drama shows like Love Alarm, Nevertheless, Sweet Home, and Forecasting Love and Weather, the 28-year-old actor is no stranger to dramatic and emotional scenes in his projects.
However, it seems that he was not prepared to cry outside of the script after he watched a video showing messages from his Filipino fans, making him realize just how much they cherish him.
"I really did not think I am going to cry. I am really surprised. I am always thankful for all your support. I hope you can all be happy, and you can all be healthy. I am so honored," Song Kang said in Korean after he was asked about his thoughts on the tremendous support from his Pinoy fans.
"I gain so much strength and energy from all of you to be able to work," he added.
As the actor is only staying in the Philippines for a limited time, Pinoys were naturally curious about which places he wants to visit in the country if given the opportunity to come back.
"I'd love to go to Boracay and eat a lot of seafood and have a healing experience by traveling outside of the city," Song Kang shared.
During a media conference just before his much-awaited fan meet, the actor said that he got to relish eating popular Filipino cuisines, "I got to eat halo halo, kare-kare, bulalo and garlic rice. I also like the dried mangoes!"
Aside from this, he also tried dishes from one of the country's most popular local fast food brands Jollibee and got to sightsee different places in Manila.
"The streets of Manila are beautiful and I love the weather! This is the kind of weather I like, breezy and pretty cool," Song Kang said. "I wish I have more time to explore the Philippines."
In the fan meet, Song Kang had a timely and meaningful message for his fans who are dreaming big in life: "Try many different things. Life is short. Try to be more adventurous. You will eventually find the thing that you like."
The actor is popularly dubbed as the "Son of Netflix" because most of the works he stars in can be watched on the platform.
