Jon Bon Jovi earns praises after helping distressed woman on the ledge of a bridge
"We've got each other and that's a lot for love, we'll give it a shot," Jon Bon Jovi sings in Livin' on a Prayer.
The American music icon just embodied the song's lyrics, earning praises after he helped a distressed woman on the ledge of a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee.
BBC reported that Bon Jovi and his team were at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge when the woman was in a dangerous position standing over the Cumberland River on Sept. 10.
The 62-year-old musician and others talked to the woman and helped her return to the bridge, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The department shared a video of the incident on its Facebook page.
"A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman in #Nashville on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge Tuesday night," the police said. "Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety," with a red heart emoji.
"It takes all of us to help keep each other safe," police chief John Drake said in the post.
Clips of the incident have also been making the rounds on social media.
The video showed the woman in blue holding on to the railing while standing on the ledge. Other people can be seen passing by the woman.
Bon Jovi's team, meanwhile, appeared to be setting up camera equipment, as they were reportedly shooting a music video on the bridge when they noticed the woman.
Bon Jovi walked over to the woman, while his team stood behind him. Another woman approached her.
He engaged her in conversation, gently persuading her to move away from the railing and onto the safer pedestrian walkway. He then hugged the woman, as other people approached them.
Social media users commended Bon Jovi for his actions, saying what he did was "Just another reason to love you, Jon Bon Jovi!"
"Such an amazing man. He saved her life he's a hero. May God bless him," another user said in the comments section of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's post.
