Maricar Reyes urges everyone to 'take full accountability' after making a mistake
Maricar Reyes-Poon shared some words of wisdom about "taking full accountability" after committing a mistake.
The actress and singer shared the message on her Facebook page, which has received over 50,000 reactions as of writing.
"The pain and shame of a mistake can be the first step towards the best and wisest version of yourself," she wrote.
"Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Take full accountability, learn well, and finish strong," she added.
Maricar did not specify what made her share the life lesson on social media, though Internet users were quick to connect her message to onscreen partners Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings, who have been a hot topic online for their cheating controversy that started when the actor's ex-girlfriend exposed their flirty conversations on Instagram.
The love team separately confirmed the cheating rumors surrounding them as they made a public apology on Dec. 6, the same day Maricar made her post.
In the comments section, social media users praised Maricar for learning from her past mistakes and coming even stronger than before.
"One of the classiest [women] [I've] ever known. How you handled your own adversity amidst unforgiving public and tame them to become your admirers is worth noting. It's a masterclass on converting public humiliation (whether your fault or not) into public respect and admiration," one user wrote.
Another one added, "Well said. It's important to remember that everyone makes mistakes, and what truly matters is how we take accountability and grow from the experience. Life is full of lessons, and this could be a turning point to come back stronger and wiser."
Maricar made headlines in 2009 when she got involved in a video scandal with celebrity doctor Hayden Kho.
She remained silent about the issue until she finally decided to talk about it through her self-titled book, where she opened up about her "long journey and process of healing" after the issue that turned her life around.
Maricar, in a previous interview, said she was hoping to spark a light in women who are also in dark places and let them know that they are not alone through her book.
"If you guys are going through something na mabigat or something na mahirap and you don’t know how to solve it, there’s really a process. And don’t be too hard on yourself if you feel like ang tagal. Kasi ako nga 12 years bago naging okay enough to really talk about it," she said.
