Ellen Adarna explains why she wanted to keep her pregnancy private

Ellen Adarna has set the record straight on why she didn't announce her pregnancy.

In a reply to a social media user who claimed that Ellen wanted her pregnancy to be a "surprise," the actress simply said she didn't see the need to announce it as she wanted it to be "peaceful and quiet."

"Hindi ko gusto [ng] surprise. Alam naman ng friends and family and 'di ko naman tinatago. [W]hen I go out, crop top ako, kahit Malaki tyan. I just didn't announce because I don't need to. I want a quiet and peaceful pregnancy," she said.

The Pasion de Amor star continued that the "last thing" she needed was "unsolicited advice" from people she didn't know.

On October 23, Ellen's husband, Derek Ramsay, posted a photo on Instagram of his wife in a hospital bed holding their newborn baby, with his stepson Elias by their side.

"My world keeps getting better and better!" Derek wrote.

Derek shared a heartwarming photo of himself and his baby, gazing lovingly at the child while shielding their face. He simply captioned the post with heart-eye emojis.

Meanwhile, Ellen captured a tender moment between her son Elias and the newborn. Elias presented the baby with a thoughtful gift: a painting of Van Gogh's "Starry Night."

“‘Mama, I have a gift for my sister,’ My sweet boy,” she wrote in the caption.

In December last year, Derek revealed that his wife lost their first baby during the media conference of his 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Kampon.

"It was very early on in the pregnancy," he noted "But she’s okay. Hindi niya kailangang magpa-confine, or magparaspa, whatsoever. So, hopefully next year, makabuo na uli kami."

Meanwhile, in June, Ellen shared in her Instagram stories that she had quit smoking after 17 years and had her IUD removed in hopes of having a baby.

Derek and Ellen tied the knot in November 2021. They exchanged 'I dos' in a mountain resort in Bagac, Bataan, on Nov. 11 last year, and got married again in a Peruvian despacho ceremony led by a local shaman during their first anniversary. They are enjoying their married life with Elias, Ellen's son with her ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz.
