Bea Alonzo reveals she's 'happy now' after split with Dominic Roque
Bea Alonzo shared that she is happy now, months after her breakup with ex-fiancé Dominic Roque. She also spoke anew about how their split was a mutual decision.
The actress talked about how her past relationship in an interview with Tatler Philippines as she appeared on the cover of the magazine.
"I saw myself marrying this man. But sometimes, things don't go according to plan. Sometimes God's plan is better, and I have learnt to embrace that," she said.
Bea and Dominic announced their split earlier in February in a joint statement wherein they said they "mutually" decided to amicably end their engagement after "much thought, consideration, and care."
"Before we announced it (the breakup), we had been trying to work things out for months. It's not like it happened overnight. It was a process for both of us," she said.
"It always takes two to tango. Sometimes relationships don't work, and that's fine. I guess I also have to thank him because had he not been courageous enough actually to acknowledge that there was something wrong in our relationship, I may have continued to be carried away by the pressures of society," the actress continued.
Bea also told Tatler about her process of moving on, which involved taking a break from social media. She also said that she is "happy now" with her friends and family serving as her anchor during her trying times.
"I'm happy now. I feel like I know myself better now. I know what kind of noise to cancel out and what kind of advice to absorb," she said.
Earlier in June, she told Nelson Canlas that she was not the one who initiated the split.
The former couple first sparked dating speculations in 2019 and later confirmed their romance in August 2021. They then got engaged in July 2023.
