Bea Alonzo's camp releases statement on labor complaint by ex-driver

Bea Alonzo's camp has issued a statement on the labor complaint against her by her former driver.

On her radio program, showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin said that Alonzo's driver Efren Torres delos Reyes Jr. filed a case with the National Labor Relations Commission of the Department of Labor and Employment over alleged illegal dismissal, maltreatment, harassment, and lack of separation pay.

The actress' lawyer Joey Garcia said in a statement sent to GMA News that the timing of delos Reyes' complaint is "highly suspect.

"He was made a witness to one of the respondents among the criminal cases we filed not to mention him being a lover as admitted, then the intent behind said filing and the timeliness of such filing are too obvious not to be noticed," he said.

"His acknowledgment of being involved as a lover clearly magnifies his bias and undermines his credibility which yet again puts into question or doubt the true intent behind his & her lover-respondent’s legal maneuvers."

According to Garcia, delos Reyes was Alonzo's family driver for three months and was not assigned to her personally.

"He was not even assigned as Bea's personal driver for her professional engagements. Thus, his claims seem farfetched, unreasonable, if not unrealistic," the lawyer added.

Garcia further described the complaint as a "pure harassment case" and a "desperate attempt to sponge off."

Earlier in May, Alonzo filed cyber libel complaints against Fermin and fellow showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz and their program co-hosts. The actress' ex-fiancé Dominic Roque is also suing the Cristy FerMinute host.
