Enrique Gil pens sweet birthday greeting for Liza Soberano: 'I'll always have your back'
Enrique Gil had a short but sweet greeting for Liza Soberano on her birthday, assuring her that he will “always have [her] back.”
The actor shared a cute photo of them together in his Instagram story on Thursday, Jan. 4 as Liza turned another year older.
"Happy Birthday our dear Hopie!!! I'll always have your back no matter what. Wish I was there to celebrate your special day," Gil wrote.
Liza reposted the story on Instagram. "Thank you! Forever grateful for you," she wrote, adding a heart emoji.
This comes amid breakup rumors between the two, which began in June last year after Liza’s former manager Ogie Diaz claimed that the actress has broken up with Enrique. He said it was because of her decision to pursue a career in Hollywood.
The following month, Enrique shared in an interview that he and Liza were “good” and were just busy with their individual projects. It was also around that time they were spotted together at their friend's engagement party.
In a September interview, Liza said they make it a point to see each other from time to time amid their respective work commitments. She also expressed that she's “proud of him” and is “happy to see him flourishing.”
The two, also known as LizQuen, debuted as a loveteam in 2014 with the series Forevermore. They also starred in hit teleseryes and films including Dolce Amore, My Ex and Whys, and Alone/Together, among others. Their last onscreen project together in 2020 in the teleserye Make it With You.
Liza and Enrique have been in a relationship for over eight years, though they only went public about their status in 2019.
