Issa Pressman opens up about battle with depression
Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of depression.
Issa Pressman opened up about struggling with depression for nearly a year—and how she’s healing and breaking through it.
“From almost a year of battling depression, I’ve been going through a couple of beautiful months of continuous healing. Tonight was a new found form of therapy,” she wrote in an Instagram post, sharing a video of herself dancing freely.
She recalled not being able to dance or sing in the past year because of her mental health struggles. “I had no energy, no confidence, no self belief for reasons and traumas I have yet to share when I am ready (with means to educate and inspire,” she added.
What’s important now for the local personality is that she’s starting to get better. “[My] energy is recharged and inspired, my confidence is coming back, and I’m believing again that the world is full of love.”
Issa shared how she feels about being able to connect with herself again—someone who “knew art with all [her] heart, with no voices or judgments on whether [she] did good or bad—through dance. “I just felt free and had fun. It’s a good way to find yourself.”
She also stressed the importance of making time for things that “make you feel you.”
“If you improve your relationship with yourself, you improve your relationship with the world,” she concluded.
This comes a few months after Issa talked about healing on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level without specifying where she healed from.
“Been hiding in my little cave. Now I can say, once again, I am brave. All the blacks and grays will fade, all my colors are coming back,” she said in a September 2023 post, adding that she’s still “putting the work in every day.”
