'Freaky Friday' stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan reunite after 20 years: 'You grew up so beautifully'
There's a saying that friendships come and go, but former co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan proved that their bond has stood the test of time even after 20 years have passed.
On her Instagram account, Jamie blessed everyone's feed when she posted about her long-awaited reunion with Lindsay, who she starred with in the 2003 film Freaky Friday.
Sharing a sweet selfie of the two of them, Jamie couldn't help but admire how much Lindsay aged well.
"You grew up and so beautifully! Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!" Jamie wrote, referring to the SAG-AFTRA's strike that had shut down nearly all productions and film sets.
In the comments section, many of her followers expressed their wish to have the two actresses share the screen for the sequel of Freaky Friday.
"Mothers! We need Freaky Friday 2 for world peace!" one user commented.
Another one wrote, "Please don’t get our hopes up! We need this duo again."
Freaky Friday was released by Disney in 2003 and it focuses on the tumultuous relationship between single mother Tess Coleman and her teenage daughter Anna. After receiving cryptic fortunes at a Chinese restaurant, the two suddenly find themselves switching bodies. Unable to return to their normal selves, they are forced to pretend to one another until they find a way back.
Talks about the sequel first came when Jamie hinted in a quick interview with Variety that her cult classic comedy film is close to getting a much-awaited continuation.
"I’m 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully, We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make and I think they’re interested and we’re talking," she told the news outlet.
During her guesting on The View, Jamie shared her thoughts on what would be an interesting premise to her for the sequel.
"Let me be the old grandma who switches places," she said.
"So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon ( in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon… And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today's world, as an old lady," she continued.
Lindsay is currently busying herself being a new mom to her first child Luai, which Jamie also congratulated her on.
"My movie daughter just made me a grandmother. Blessings to Lindsay and Bader for the birth of Luai!" the veteran actress greeted Lindsay.
Aside from this, Jamie also sent her several children's books for Luai when she gets older.
