Coleen Garcia bares unfiltered face behind social media posts: 'I look sick. I look pale. I look depressed'

Coleen Garcia got real about her thoughts on toxic beauty standards on social media as she bared her unfiltered face to her fans.

On her Instagram stories, the actress posted pictures of herself depicting her two sides. The first photo showed her wearing a dreamy white dress and a bright smile with a caption that read, "What you think I look like at home," while the second photo showed her having no makeup on with the caption, "But actually… sometimes, I look like this."

"I look sick. I look pale. I look depressed. My hair's a frizzy mess, especially in this insane heat," Coleen wrote.

She stressed, however, that it was not because of any bad habits, unbearable stress, marital problems, or depression.

"It's because I'm human. We all are. I break out, I get tired, I am getting older every day," she wrote.

While she acknowledged how people can "bash, judge, and speculate" about how she looks, she urged everyone to be kind about someone's appearance instead.

"Showbiz is a switch we turn on until we get to shed the makeup, the hair extensions, and the pretensions and just be," she added.

The local star went on to call out the hypocrisy of other people, saying, "We complain about how everything on social media is so fake and filtered, and then in the same breath, we bash what's real when we feel like it's not pretty enough for us."

Coleen's fans have since reposted her photos on social media and have praised her for being courageous about her appearance as well as for encouraging others to do away with harmful beauty standards.

"Social media was full of filtered photos and videos, this is what I loved about you, you ain't scared of showing the whole world who and what you are. You're looking great, you're pretty without makeup," one user commented.

"Very well said. We are all human. Pretty to see the outside, but what's really important is the inside," another commented.

Coleen is currently busy with life as a mother to her son Amari, whom she and her husband Billy Crawford welcomed in 2020.

While she has been on a break from the entertainment industry for a while now, she is set to return to the limelight through an upcoming horror film titled Play Time with Sanya Lopez and Faye Lorenzo.
