Stray Kids members Han, Seungmin experienced symptoms of enteritis ahead of 'Maniac' concert in Manila
In case you didn't know, Stray Kids’ Han and Seungmin experienced symptoms of enteritis a day before their Maniac show in Manila. JYP Entertainment, however, assured fans that the members' health is its "top priority."
The news of Han and Seungmin's condition began making buzz among SKZ fans, or "STAY," when they noticed Seungmin limping during their departure from the airport in South Korea.
Upon the group's arrival in Manila on March 10, fans noticed the low energy of both Han and Seungmin.
Shortly after, JYP Entertainment released a statement addressing the rumors. According to the band's agency, the two started exhibiting symptoms of enteritis on that day before their flight to the Philippines.
Enteritis is inflammation in the small intestine, which is commonly caused by viral and bacterial infections, according to Cleveland Clinic.
The statement read, “Hello, this is JYPE. Firstly, we apologize for causing concern at a time when we are approaching the Stray Kids 2nd World Tour 'MANIAC' in MANILA show. We would like to make an announcement regarding Stray Kids members HAN and Seungmin’s health conditions."
The agency went on to detail the two K-pop idols’ health conditions, sharing that they received treatment and prescriptions, and underwent a rapid test for COVID-19, in which they tested negative.
“Since 3/10 (Friday) during the day, HAN and Seungmin have been exhibiting symptoms of enteritis. Before leaving for the Philippines, the two visited a hospital for treatment and received prescriptions.” they shared. “The two also conducted COVID-19 rapid antigen tests and received negative results.”
“On the day of [their departure], it was decided that Seungmin would experience difficulty with fast-paced walking within the airport, thus ended up using a wheelchair,” it continued.
“We inform you that there are no other symptoms other than a lack of energy due to enteritis symptoms.”
“JYPE will continue to place the artist’s health as the highest priority for all future schedules and will provide everything we can to support the artist’s swift recovery,” they concluded. There are no official announcements yet if they will be able to join the two-night shows.
Although excited about their Manila concert, fans are mostly worried about the K-pop idols’ health, wishing them a speedy recovery and assuring them of their understanding in case they will not be able to perform.
One fan tweeted, "I hope JYP prioritizes Han & Seungmin's health and safety. I hope they don't make them perform at the Manila shows if it's difficult or risky. I know SKZ always want to give their best on stage for us, but I'm sure STAYs will understand & would want them to put their health first :("
"If it's really enteritis, I think they'll observe both Han and Seungmin's condition tomorrow because sometime it'll only take a day to recover that's why they didn't mention in the statement how they'll perform, but really hope they wouldn't push themselves," another STAY tweeted.
According to Cleveland Clinic, enteritis is usually brief and can be treated at home with rest, rehydration, and antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.
Stray Kids is set to conquer the Manila stage on March 11 and 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. They recently visited the country in January for their fan meeting in collaboration with a clothing brand.
Stray Kids is an eight-member boy group consisting of members Felix, Han, Changbin, Bangchan, Seungmin, I.N., Hyunjin, and Lee Know. They are famous for their hit songs, God's Menu, Thunderous, Case 143, and Maniac.
