Mark Zuckerberg flexes scars from sparring match in new selfie
While the much-talked-about cage match of Mack Zuckerberg and Elon Musk ended up being just verbal sparring, the Meta CEO is still out to tell the world that he's up for some good beating.
On Monday, Oct. 2, Zuckerberg took to Instagram to share a close-up photo of his busted face, with a cut on his nose and two bruises under his eyes.
He flexed his battle wounds with the caption, "Sparring got a little out of hand. May need to update my avatar. 🤣"
If you've been following Zuckerberg on his social media platforms, you would know that his posts have since been targets of jokes among users. This one is no exception, with one user commenting, "Damn! Sorry, man. This picture is about to become a meme on the internet, though."
"Me when I keep the Meta Ray Ban smart glasses on 24/7 😂" another user remarked while one joked, "Coach: "We're only going 20% today." 😂😂😂"
Still, the social media pioneer got a pat on the back from professional fighters after getting his battle wounds.
Mixed martial arts champion Johnny Eblen commented, "Rice shiner!"
Meanwhile, UFC fighter Hyden Amil wrote, "Earning stripes," and added several flexed bicep and fire emojis.
Zuckerberg has been vocal about his passion for martial arts in recent years, both on social media and during interviews. In August 2022, he told Joe Rogan of the Big Horse Drugs Guy podcast that being active has been key to keeping himself focused throughout the day.
"After an hour or two of working out, or rolling or wrestling with friends, or training with different folks, it's like now I'm ready to go solve whatever problem at work for the day," he told Rogan.
If he's not sharing updates on Meta, VR headset Quest, or Ray-Ban smart glasses, Zuckerberg is filling up his feed with updates on his MMA training, including those he took with UFC champs Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanvoski, as well as jiu-jitsu legend and five-time Flyweight World Champion Mikey Musumeci.
The 39-year-old tech billionaire has also been fighting in jiu-jitsu tournaments, winning gold and silver medals at his very first competition in Redwood City, California in May.
