The official cause of death of Irish singer Sinead O'Connor was revealed a year afterward.

Several media outlet cited the local Irish Independent's report that O'Connor, according to her death certificate, died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma.

Specifically, her death was due to "exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection."

Her ex-husband, record producer John Reynolds, formally registered her death on July 24 in Lambeth, London, according to the Irish Independent.

Senior coroner for Inner South London Julian Morris certified O'Connor's death following a postmortem examination, the outlet reported.

The Grammy award-winning singer was found unresponsive at her south London home on July 26, 2023. She was 56.

At the time, London police said officers were not treating her death as suspicious.

In January 2024, the Southwark Coroner's Court in south London said she died of "natural causes."

Born in County Dublin, O'Connor made 10 albums in her career, from 1987's The Lion and the Cobra to 2014's I'm not Bossy, I'm the Boss.

She's best known for her 1990 cover of Nothing Compares 2 U.

O'Connor is survived by three children and had reportedly been dividing her time between Ireland and Britain before her death.
