Olivia Rodrigo says she wants to tour the Philippines soon

Looks like a 'GUTS' Philippine show would no longer be an impossible dream for Filipino Livies!

In her recent interview with American magazine Rolling Stone, award-winning pop star Olivia Rodrigo shared more about herself, including considering La La Land as the “greatest movie of all time,” being afraid of birds, and most notably, her plans to include the Philippines in her tour in the future.

"People [in the Philippines] are so welcoming and hospitable and awesome," she said. "Filipino people ride for other Filipino people."

Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a Hollywood career, Olivia was born and raised in California by her Filipino father and German-Irish mom.

She has always been proud of her Filipino roots. In her profile video for Disney Channel’s celebration of diversity, Olivia talked more about how she’s proud of her Filipino heritage.

“Some traditions that have carried over to my generation are that we actually make a Filipino food. My great-grandpa had a garden and he also was a really good cook, so he’d make lumpia which is kind of like Filipino egg rolls and really yummy,” she shared.

“I’m a Filipino. I’m a lumpia fan. I’m a daughter and a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. I’m an American. I’m an Asian Pacific Islander,” she said.

This is not the first time that the singer shared her plans to visit the country. In her interview with the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) in 2018, she also expressed her desire to visit the Philippines—which she included in her bucket list.

“I have never been to the Philippines, but I really, really want to. We still have extended family there, but I’ve never met them. That’s on my bucket list, definitely,” she previously said.

After her acting stint at Disney, Olivia debuted as a solo artist and has won three Grammys so far. Some of her hit songs are driver’s license, vampire, déjà vu, among others. She is set to embark on her GUTS world tour in 2024.
