Camille Prats shares how she retrieved her lost phone using a tracker
Camille Prats was able to get back her lost phone, thanks to an app.
Camille, who attended the BLACKPINK concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last March 26, shared on Instagram stories how she was able to locate her iPhone that went missing during the concert.
The actress and host said that upon discovering that her phone is missing, she immediately called her husband Vj Yambao to help mark it as "lost" and erase its data using the Find My app in iOS.
That same night, Vj and his brother Ice Yambao tried to follow to where the "location of the phone is and which house it ended in" using the GPS tracker.
"Ala Taken movie," she said, adding that the search ended at 3 a.m.
In the morning of March 27, Camille and her husband went to the nearest police station of the location and was assisted to the house where the phone was last tracked. The homeowner's association and village guards also came with them.
Camille said that they asked the owners of two houses if they have "chanced upon" her phone in the arena.
"No mention of it getting stolen, we didn't want to accuse anyone of such thing, just really trying to explain to them that my phone can still be tracked on that exact location at baka napansin nila," she wrote, saying that the owners claimed nobody from their homes went to the arena.
The group then went back to the police station to review the CCTV of the village gate to see which vehicles entered between 1:15-1:20 a.m.
An hour later, the phone changed its location. The couple and the police officers followed them near IBP road, but to no avail. It moved again to Shopwise Commonwealth Ave., but they failed to locate it again.
"At this point, I feel like chances are slim na 'coz we're now in a public place and it's going to be harder na to find the phone," she said.
"We decided to stop following na 'coz it felt like we're chasing a mouse with no lead or idea who exactly we are looking for," she said.
But moments later, the phone's location again changed. It is said to be at Precint 6 and hasn't moved for more than an hour. They then called the same police officers they were with because someone might have surrendered the phone.
And by 6 p.m., they received a call from one of Camille's brothers, whose friend knows someone working at Precint 6, confirming that her phone was returned to the station via a motorcycle delivery service.
"Vj and I were both in tears. We were praying the moment we left the house, on the road, before going fown to the police station.
"It's both our first time to ever go to a police station to ask for help, we didn't know what to expect. We just prayed and prayed that things will fall into place and that God will help us find it," Camille wrote.
The Kapuso actress shared her realizations with her fans, telling them to not be scared to ask for help. She cleared that the police officers didn't know who she was at first, but they still attended to her and helped.
Camille also reminded that "kindness always prevails" and to deal with issues "as peacefully as we can."
"No harsh words, no accusations. Never ending pakiusap lang talaga," she noted, adding that prayers are powerful. "Only God can make that happen."
In her next stories, Camille shared a photo with the police officers who assisted them. She also thanked her husband "for not giving up" finding her phone.
"I think though that my husband's motivation in tracking it down was because he doesn't want to buy me a new phone. Iba din ang kuripot talaga," she joked.
Camille reminded the public who are iPhone users to activate their Find My iPhone feature.
"It is very helpful. Once locked by the owner, di na siya mauulock para mabenta ulit. Infairness sa security ng Apple," Camille said, posting a "Case Closed" GIF.
