Park Hyung-sik shares his 2024 goals ahead of Manila fan meet in February
Filo Park Hyung-sik fans will spend Valentine's Day a few days late as the idol-turned-actor returns to the Philippines for a fan meet on Feb. 17.
Hyung-sik, who is a former member of the K-pop boy band ZE:A, recently met with a select member of the press ahead of his "2024 Asia Tour Fan Meeting SIKcret Time" at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. During this, he talked about his career and shared what he's looking forward to in 2024, including his return to the Philippines.
Doctor Slump
Hyung-Sik debuted in the 2012 TV drama Dummy Mommy. Since then, he has acted in several dramas and films including The Heirs (2013), High Society (2015), Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016), Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017), Suits (2018), Happiness (2021), and Our Blooming Youth (2023).
The above-mentioned series and films cemented his name in South Korea's entertainment industry, earning him accolades such as the Excellence Award at the 2017 KBS Drama Awards and the Best New Actor Award at the 2015 APAN Star Awards.
Moreover, Hyung Sik will grace the small screen again as he will star in the upcoming JTBC romantic-comedy medical drama Doctor Slump with South Korean actress Park Shin-hye.
Speaking to the media, Hyung-sik declared Doctor Slump his most profound experience yet, citing a deep connection to his character, Yeo Jeong-woo. A celebrated plastic surgeon, Jeong-woo's life is thrown into chaos by a baffling medical event, sparking a journey of self-discovery that resonates deeply with the actor.
"The role Yeo Jeong-woo that I actually took part in this project has a very positive personality and deals [with] and conquers those hardships that he actually faces. So I guess you can expect from that as well," he continued.
Having starred in many films and dramas, Hyung Sik revealed that he wanted to star in a drama set during the war and try a role where he had superpowers, something similar to the hit Disney+ series, Moving.
"Recently, I watched a series called Moving, so while watching it, I thought of, like, I think it would be great if I could try a person with superpowers," he said.
Something new
When it comes to hobbies, the 32-year-old Korean superstar told the press that he wants to try scuba diving again and visit other "great spots" in the Philippines.
"As you know, I really love scuba diving, and I heard that the Philippines is actually the best spot for scuba diving and there are a lot of great points, so if there is an opportunity given to me, I would like to visit there as well," the actor said.
In case you didn't know, the Strong Girl Bong-soon star went to the country in 2019 for his fan meeting for Bench at the Mall of Asia Arena. During his stay, he visited Cebu City for three days and went diving and open water swimming.
More than the "fascinating" places, the South Korean actor highlighted that his "passionate" fans, the Filipino food, and the country's "perfect" weather are among the fondest memories he had when he visited the Philippines. Hyung-sik added that these "gave [him] the feeling of not going back to Korea."
Asked where he would like to spend a long vacation, he answered, "I would like to visit the Philippines [where] I could actually try fishing, scuba diving, and any other stuff."
Message for his Pinoy fans
Ahead of the Feb. 17 event, the South Korean actor promised fans could expect a lot of surprises from him.
"It has been such a long time since I last visited here, and I am very sorry for visiting this late. Since I am coming here after a long time, I prepared a lot for you guys," he said.
"I am actually hoping that you know, it will be an event that many of my fans could actually participate in," Hyung Sik added.
This fan meet marks the launch of Park Hyung-sik's 2024 goals: to connect with his fans and fuel his passion for future projects.
"The goal for me this year is, of course, to finish my fan meeting successfully, and if [I am] given an opportunity, I would like to showcase myself more to you guys for more projects."
