LOOK: Jessy Mendiola reset her diamond engagement ring to be more 'child-friendly'
Jessy Mendiola has decided to reset her engagement ring to make way for the arrival of her first child with Luis Manzano.
In an Instagram post, the expecting mother shared new photos of the diamond ring along with the decision behind it: "Now, I won’t have to worry about it getting caught or scratching my little one when he/she becomes a toddler."
"In the meantime.. back to the safe!" the actress quipped, pertaining to the value of the ring reportedly worth P5 million.
To "reset" a ring means to either change the center stone, adjust the diamonds on the side, or if the prongs keeping the diamond in place need to be tightened. In Mendiola's case, her reset ring appears to have rounder edges compared to the ring given to her by Manzano back in December of 2020.
The actress also thanked Manila Diamond Studio for resetting her ring, as they also made the couple's wedding bands.
The engagement ring hasn't come without controversy in the past, as it was caught in a mix-up between a rival jeweler that claimed they were not properly credited by Manzano when he proposed to Mendiola.
Manzano and Manila Diamond Studio have since cleared up the issue, stating that while the centerpiece diamond itself was procured elsewhere, the design and make of the ring were a collaboration between Manila Diamond Studio and Mendiola.
In a YouTube vlog, the actress also revealed that the ring was also reset before their engagement because of a bad personal experience she had with the accusing jeweler. According to Mendiola, her friend from the said jewelry company let her try the ring while the couple was on a break before getting engaged.
Meanwhile, Mendiola and Manzano announced that they are expecting their first child on August 12, 2022. They got married at The Farm in San Benito in Batangas on February 2021 after five years of dating.
