TREASURE to change leaders, make comeback in 2025

YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk addressed the company’s upcoming plans for TREASURE in 2025, stating that the group is gearing up for a comeback and will change its group leaders.

On its YouTube channel, Yang explained the group's upcoming digital single, LAST NIGHT, will be released on Dec. 5, as a pre-release track from their upcoming mini album.

As per Yang, the latest song will show a "unique concept" different from the group's previous songs.

"I can say it's quite a significant change," he said.

Yang added, "Previously, with songs like JIKJIN and BONA BONA or the recently released KING KONG, we primarily focused on powerful and intense songs for our title tracks."

TREASURE is planning to make a comeback with their new mini album in February 2025. They aimed to release a full-length album around July or August, showcasing the members' "honest emotions" in the songs.

"This time, we are dialing back the intensity allowing for the expression of these guys' honest emotions and creating music that can reach you all in a more comfortable way," Yang said.

Moreover, Kim Junkyu and Asahi will be TREASURE’s new leaders starting Jan. 1 next year, replacing Hyunsuk and Jihoon. They are expected to remain the group’s leaders for the next two or three years.

"Since the team has ten members, there was a suggestion to rotate the leader every two to three years."

"I believe these two members will do a great job as leaders of TREASURE for two to three years. I believe it is interesting to see the new leadership system under Junkyu and Asahi," he added.

Lastly, the K-pop group is preparing for a special fan meeting in March and is expected to kick off a world tour in October.

"We will work hard to visit as many places as possible where fans have been eager to see TREASURE going beyond areas in Asia they've visited before," Yang assured the group's fans.

TREASURE debuted as a 13-member boy band in 2019. They now have ten active members, including Choi Hyun-suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Asahi, Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jeong-woo, and So Jung-hwan.

They are best known for their hit songs Darari, Hello, Jikjin, and Going Crazy, among others.

The K-pop act visited the country in April 2023 for their HELLO world tour and #TREASURE RELAY TOUR [REBOOT] in May 2024.
