Jennifer Lawrence opens up about having two miscarriages before welcoming her baby boy

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she went through two miscarriages before turning 30 and welcoming her first son, Cy.

In the October issue of Vogue, the actress shared that she had gotten pregnant in her early 20s and intended to get an abortion at the time. However, she had a miscarriage in Montreal.

She learned that she was pregnant a second time during the shooting of the Netflix film Don't Look Up. By then, she was married to art curator, Cooke Maroney, and intended to keep the child.

The conversation comes at the time after the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a move that decriminalizes safe abortions in America.

"I remember a million times thinking about it while I was pregnant," Lawrence shared with Vogue.

"Thinking about the things that were happening to my body. And I had a great pregnancy. I had a very fortunate pregnancy. But every single second of my life was different. And it would occur to me sometimes: What if I was forced to do this?"

The 32-year-old artist added that women ought to have autonomy over their bodies, and how she became more political over the years.

"I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t. I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t f*ck with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people," she said.

As of writing, the U.S. is still up in arms about Roe V. Wade, with abortion restrictions reaching state levels for the first time since the 1973 resolution.

Meanwhile, Lawrence revealed that she had given birth in February 2022. Her son is named after American postwar painter, Cy Twombly.

"My heart has stretched to a capacity that I didn’t know about. I include my husband in that. And then they’re both just, like, out there—walking around, crossing streets. He’s gonna drive one day. He’s gonna be a stupid teenager and be behind the wheel of a car. And I’m just gonna be like, Good night! You know? Like, who sleeps?" the new mother shared.
