‘Queen of Tears’ finale breaks tvN's viewership rating record, surpassing 'CLOY'
tvN's hit drama Queen of Tears recorded the highest viewership rating in the network’s history with its final episode.
The highly anticipated finale of the Korean drama, which stars Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won, shattered viewership records as it aired its conclusion on Sunday, April 28.
According to Nielsen Korea, Queen of Tears attained 24.850% nationwide viewership ratings, while it achieved 28.381% in metropolitan areas. The record was previously held by Crash Landing on You in February 2020 with a 21.683% rating.
Despite drawing mixed feelings and reactions from viewers, Queen of Tears made history not just in viewership ratings, but also in its international reception as it ranked third under the non-English category on Netflix’s Top 10 TV Series, as of April 24.
Queen of Tears follows the story of couple Baek Hyun-Woo (Soo-Hyun) and Hong Hae-In (Ji-Won) as they navigate through the ups and downs of married life.
Recently, the stars of the drama commemorated its end with a joyous wrap-up party, which they shared on their social media pages.
However, this is not the end yet for the hit drama. tvN has previously announced that Queen of Tears will have a two-part special episode to air on May 4 and 5, featuring the lead cast: Kim Ji-Won, Kim Soo-Hyun, Park Sung Hoon, Kwak Dong-Yeon, and Lee Joo-Bin.
