Pokwang on why she's letting her ex-partner Lee O'Brian see their daughter again
Pokwang has revealed why she decided to allow her ex-partner Lee O'Brian to visit their daughter from time to time despite their ongoing issues.
At a recently concluded media event for her new movie Becky and Badette, the comedienne detailed how Lee reached out to her and asked if he could bond with their child one weekend. "Okay naman. Nakakadalaw naman siya, napapasyal niya 'yung bata," she said. "Ako, naghihintay lang ako kung kailan niya ulit gusto."
"Kasi importante sa'kin 'yung happiness ng anak ko," she explained, adding that Christmas "is for children."
"Bigla na lang siyang nag-message kasi eh. Sabi niya, 'Pwede ko ba isama si Malia? Manonood kami ng, ano, Aladdin.' 'Oh sige,' kako, eh 'di dinrop off ko 'yung bata sa lugar kung saan siya nakatira."
When asked about the possibility of her and Lee being friends again, she said, "Sana. May proseso tayo dyan."
This comes over a week after Lee posted some snaps takend during his weekend hangout with Malia. "Had a blast this weekend with you, my dear [Malia],” he wrote in the caption. “Love you, sweetie!”
Lee and Pokwang are facing a legal battle following their separation in November 2021.
Pokwang filed a petition for deportation against Lee in June this year. According to entertainment reporter MJ Marfori, her camp "claims that O'Brian was using a tourist visa while working in the country for the past eight years."
Lee, meanwhile, filed his reply to the deportation complaint on June 26. In an interview shared by Marfori, the actor appealed to the Philippine government and the Bureau of Immigration to look at the case in line with his deportation and visa cancellation “fairly and with justice” as he noted that the complainant is “very well-known” and “very influential” in the country.
The former couple got to know each other in 2014 while working on the film Edsa Woolworth. They welcomed Malia in 2018, and separated three years later.
While Pokwang initially said they were on good terms, she later revealed in a February interview with Boy Abunda that a business problem led to their fallout and that they were no longer speaking to each other even before their confrontation.
