SEVENTEEN's S.Coups to skip group's promotional activities to recover from injury

SEVENTEEN’s agency PLEDIS Entertainment, announced that the K-pop group's leader, S.Coups, will skip most of the group's upcoming comeback promotional activities to recover from his injury.

The 13-piece ensemble is set to promote their 11th mini album, SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, which is set to be released on Oct. 23.

In a statement published by South Korean entertainment outlet Soompi, PLEDIS Entertainment said that S. Coups "was deeply committed to participating in the pre-scheduled activities."

"However, we believed that it was in his best interest to prioritize his recovery and rehabilitation above all else at this time," the agency continued. "Therefore, it will be difficult for S.Coups to participate in most of his official activities including SEVENTEEN’s promotional activities for their 11th Mini album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN. Thank you very much for your kind understanding."

Last August, the 28-year-old rapper sustained a a tear in his left anterior cruciate ligamen "while playing a ball game for a content shoot."

During that time, his agency implied that his participation in the group’s prearranged engagements would be adjusted depending on the circumstances, noting that his recovery is the top priority as recommended by medical staff. 

According to the agency, S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery. He is currently receiving post-surgery care and is focusing on his recovery.

"It has been almost two months since he underwent this surgery, and he is currently recovering. However, the affected area is still in a vulnerable state," PLEDIS Entertainment continued. "Rehabilitation treatment is crucial at this stage, and he has received medical advice that it would be best to avoid any physically taxing activities for the time being." 

Meanwhile, S.Coups personally took to Weverse to reassure his fans that he will strengthen his resolve and work harder on his recovery. 

“I wanted to participate in activities as much as I could, but I’ll take a break for a while to focus on rehabilitation so I can see you all in the long term. You don’t like it when I apologize, so rather than feeling sorry, I’ll strengthen my resolve and work harder on my recovery to show you a healthier me as soon as possible," he said in note translated by Soompi. a translated note.

Last October, SEVENTEEN held a two-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena as part of its "Be the Sun" tour. The group, composed of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino, returned in December for an additional show at the Philippine Arena. The group become the first K-pop act to stage a solo concert at the 55,000-seater venue.

The 13-man act will visit again the country for their Follow concert on Jan. 13, next year.
