Before Maja Salvador was able to hold her bundle of joy in her arms, she first had to endure a serious complication on top of an "intense" labor that lasted for hours.

On her Instagram account, the actress opened up about her pregnancy journey as she shared several pictures of herself lying in a hospital bed and preparing for the birth of her baby girl Maria with her husband Rambo Nuñez.

"I experienced an intense 30-hour labor, 12 hours without epidural, three hours of pushing. Then ended up having episiotomy and forceps. Two contractions and seven pushes later, we finally welcomed our baby Maria," Maja shared.

She was only able to hold Maria for 10 minutes as she had to deal with a sudden complication after giving birth.

"Biglang nagka-emergency... I had uterine inversion. Kaya kinailangan nilang kunin sakin si Maria at binigay nila kay Rambo who was seated helplessly next to my bed," Maja shared.

According to the National Library of Medicine, uterine inversion refers to the collapse of the fundus into the uterine cavity and is considered "one of the most serious complications of childbirth" as it carries a high risk of mortality due to hemorrhage and shock.

"Three OB-GYN were there trying to put back my uterus manually, which led to blood loss of three to four liters, then my blood pressure went down to 60/40, sinabihan na lang ako ng doula ko na anytime I would have to go to the operating room for surgery," Maja wrote.

"That time sabi ko nalang sa sarili ko na I can’t do anything anymore... ubos na ubos na lakas ko... I started praying Hail Mary... paulit-ulit kahit wala na akong lakas. And miraculously, after their last attempt, one of the OB-GYN succeeded in repositioning my uterus," she continued.

The local star went on to express her gratitude to the medical personnel for their "unwavering care and support" amid the challenging situation. She is currently recovering from it with her family in Canada.

"To My Husband, I love you. To My Maria, everything is worth it! I love you, anak," Maja ended.

The actress announced her pregnancy in December through a festive Christmas-themed video where they displayed a sonogram on the Christmas tree.

The two first got into a relationship in 2010, but called it quits a few months later. They confirmed their rekindled romance in March 2019 and announced their engagement in April 2022.

Maja and Rambo tied the knot in July last year at The Apurva Kempinski Bali in Indonesia.
