‘I’m okay, mama’: Pauline Amelinckx’s touching moment with mom post-pageant goes viral
Pauline Amelinckx shared a touching moment with her mom after the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 pageant, where she finished as Miss Supranational Philippines.
In a series of viral photos posted by Allyn John Ceñal, one of her supporters, the Bohol bet can be seen shedding some tears as she received a comforting hug from her mother after the competition.
“The only thing I saw was that paglapit ni tita kay Pauline, wala nang usap-usap, deretso yakap sila. Mahigpit na yakap,” the uploader told PhilSTAR L!fe. “Narinig ko lang, sinabi ni Pau, ‘I’m okay, mama.’”
Ceñal further recalled their touching mommy-daughter moment in a separate chat with The Philippine STAR. “Everyone there was teary-eyed, seeing how tight they hugged was like sending a message of comfort for each other.”
Amelinckx was named the country’s representative to the Miss Supranational pageant in a separate awarding ceremony that took place after the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 pageant on Saturday, May 13.
“I really just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. All your love and your support every year, for the past few years, has been so moving and so heartwarming and has been one of those driving factors that really kept me going and that really drove me to always want to become a better and transformed self. So to all of you, thank you, thank you so much,” she said as she was crowned, as seen in a video shared by reporter Dyan Castillejo on Instagram.
Michelle Dee (Makati) won the highly coveted Miss Universe Philippines crown at this year's tilt. Christine Opiaza (Zambales) was named first runner-up, followed by Angelique Manto (Pampanga) who won second runner-up. Krishnah Gravidez (Baguio), meanwhile, was crowned Miss Charm Philippines.
