BIGHIT MUSIC not planning to hold official event for BTS' Jin's military enlistment
BTS' management company BIGHIT MUSIC has confirmed that Jin will be undergoing military enlistment, but there won't be a fan event on the day of his recruitment.
Reports of Jin's enlistment started circulating in November, with industry representatives saying he will enter the recruit training center in Yeoncheon County of Gyeonggi Province on Dec. 13.
"Jin will fulfill his required time with the military by enlisting in the army. Please note that we will not be holding any kind of official event on the day of his recruitment," BIGHIT's statement released on Dec. 6 said.
Fans were also discouraged from visiting the BTS member's entrance ceremony to avoid crowding.
"The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. In order to prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, we ask fans to please refrain from visiting the site. Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts,' the company continued.
"We ask for your continued love and support for Jin until he finishes his military service and comes back. Our company will also strive to provide every support he needs during this time."
Military service is mandatory in South Korea and able-bodied men are required to serve in the army for 18 months when they reach the age of 28. Jin, who is turning 30 in December, is the first member of BTS to enlist. He was previously granted an automatic postponement in 2021 until the end of 2022, following the revisions made to the Military Service Act in 2020.
