Armie Hammer’s mom got him a vasectomy as a birthday present
Armie Hammer had an unexpected gift from his mom to celebrate his birthday.
The Call Me By Your Name actor, who turned 38 this year, shared in an episode of his Armie HammerTime Podcast that he got a vasectomy on his special day that's courtesy of his mom Dru Hammer.
Dru, who joined her son on the podcast, recounted that she had called Armie to ask him about his birthday wish.
"He goes, 'I don’t know, maybe money. Whatever.' And I was like, 'I believe I’m going to give you a vasectomy,'" Dru recounted.
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure that cuts the supply of sperm to the semen. Despite it being a permanent male birth control, Armie—who is already a father to his two children Harper and Ford with his ex Elizabeth Chambers—appeared to have had no hesitations in getting it.
"I do a consult with the doctor and he’s like, 'Are you sure you want to do this?'" Hammer shared. "I'm like, 'I have two beautiful kids, I don’t want any more kids. I’m good to go.'"
After the procedure, he was asked by the receptionist regarding the payment, and that was when her mom comes in.
"The receptionist was like, 'Are you gonna be putting this on insurance?'" I go, 'Actually, I don’t have insurance.' She goes, 'What?' I go, 'Yeah, I haven’t had insurance for years.' She was like, 'Oh, Okay. Are you going to be putting it on a credit card?' And I go, 'My credit cards won’t cover this. My mother’s going to be calling you and she’s going to be paying for it,'" Armie recalled.
Dru shared that she came up with the unusual birthday gift due to her religious belief against premarital sex.
"I thought, 'Okay well I’m not going to tell him not to have sex outside of marriage,' which is what I would like to tell him as a Christian mother, but that isn’t going to happen. So, I know there are these young girls who would love to have Armie Hammer’s baby," Dru said.
"Maybe when I had money, they would," Armie chimed in, referring to his reputation having plummeted due to the numerous sexual misconduct allegations he is facing.
His career went downhill in 2021 when multiple women claimed that they experienced sexual and physical abuse from him, with one of them alleging he was "100% a cannibal" and wished to "drink [her] blood."
After the allegations started, he abandoned several future projects and was dropped by his talent agency and publicist, but Armie has continuously denied the claims.
Despite an investigation, Armie did not face sexual assault charges due to "insufficient evidence."
The actor is now trying to pick up the pieces of his career as he is poised to make a return to the big screen with the upcoming Western film, Frontier Crucible.
