Jericho Rosales says 'you can be friends with your ex' after breakup with Kim Jones
When a relationship comes to an end, some might say that you can never be friends with your ex, but not for Jericho Rosales.
The actor, who recently broke things off with his longtime love Kim Jones, recounted their separation in an interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines.
According to him, when the couple's godfather Ricci Ocampo confirmed the news in January earlier this year, they were actually talking to each other on the phone and "laughing" about the whole thing.
"We thought that it was the perfect time because the goal was really to show people that we're good. We're really good. We've crossed over, you know, we've transformed the relationship into something really special as friends," Jericho said.
He shared that he and Kim still support each other when it comes to projects and still collaborate as artists.
"Actually, I'm working with her on her new project because she's producing a film for someone. So, I'm also supporting that," Jericho said.
Apart from this, he is also set to star in a new film titled Eliseo, which was co-written by Kim.
While the local star acknowledged that some people were sad about their love story coming to an end, he still looked at the brighter side of things.
"I think the best part was that it was considered a 'success' when we felt that people understood and people saw that things like this can happen. And it shouldn't always be sad. It shouldn't always be a bad thing. You know what I mean?" Jericho said.
With this, the actor hopes that other people will be inspired by them and maintain a harmonious bond with their exes.
"It's one of the best things that ever happened to us. And we wanted for people to be inspired and show them that, 'Hey, look, it can be done. You can be friends with your ex,'" he said.
Rumors of Jericho and Kim's separation began circulating last year when eagle-eyed netizens noticed that both stars no longer post about each other on social media.
According to Ocampo, they have been separated since 2019, the split was a mutual decision, and the two have remained good friends to this day.
"The two are filled with gratitude for the memories they’ve made together and the lessons they’ve learned. They have journeyed through the separation with the utmost respect and care toward one another precisely because Echo and Kim are the best of friends and love each other like family," Ocampo told ABS-CBN News.
Jericho and Kim officially became a couple in October 2011. They tied the knot in May 2014.
