'John Tucker Must Die' cast announces sequel
It's official! John Tucker Must Die is having a sequel.
Stars Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush, and Arielle Kebbel revealed at Epic Cons Chicago that a script for the sequel for the classic chic flick has been written.
"There's a script," said Jesse. "Apparently, it's amazing."
The 45-year-old actor said he would "definitely love to be a part of it" and that he "can't wait to read it."
Arielle, on the other hand, confirmed that the script involves "all of the OG cast."
She also said that Jesse's player character, John, may even get a "chance to change" in the sequel.
He replied: "Do I get a chance to wear a thong again?" Arielle quipped, "We wanted to talk to you about that."
She added, "We were thinking you'd actually, like, make your own brand, endorse it. It'd be a whole thing."
Jesse said he's up for it and "can't wait to unleash this dad bod on the big screen."
Celebrating the news, Sophia shared photos with her castmates wearing matching T-shirts and friendship bracelets.
"Consider this our return to our going out top era #JTMD #FriendshipBracelets #Reputation #Eras IYKYK," she wrote in the caption.
John Tucker Must Die (2006) follows the story of John, a womanizing athlete, who had three different girlfriends at the same time. The three girls Heather (Ashanti), Cathy (Sophia), and Beth (Arielle) unite and ask fellow student Kate (Brittany Snow) to help get revenge.
Previously, Jesse told Too Fab in March 2021 that he is proud that the film got cult classic status and that many of the actors in the movie became successful in their respective careers.
"The film got completely panned, you know," he said. "[So] the fact that it's achieved a little bit of teen comedy cult classic status is a pleasant surprise. I feel like it's the kind of movie that's really been passed down through the generations from older brothers and sisters to the younger siblings."
He added, "I'm quite proud of the movie. I actually think it was really well done, really well directed by Betty Thomas and there's a lot of great actors in the movie that have gone on to have very successful careers."
