Lisa Bonet files for divorce from Jason Momoa 2 years after separation
Actress Lisa Bonet is seeking to divorce Jason Momoa two years after the ex-couple announced they had parted ways.
According to court documents obtained by People, Bonet, who fostered a romance with the Aquaman actor for 18 years, asked for joint child custody of their 16-year-old daughter Lola and 15-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf.
The petition detailed that the separation is due to "irreconcilable differences" between them, listing their date of split as Oct. 7, 2020, which is the same date as their wedding.
Bonet wishes to have neither her nor Momoa get financial support from each other, adding that they have now agreed on how to split their assets.
The former couple first met in 2005 after being introduced by mutual friends and sparked a romance in the same year. They eventually tied the knot on Oct. 7, 2017 in a secret ceremony at their house in Topanga, California.
However, the two of them announced in a joint statement five years later that they had called it quits.
"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage," the statement read.
It continued, "We share this not because we think it's newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become…"
Bonet was previously married to musician Lenny Kravitz, whom she shares a daughter with, actress Zoë Kravitz.
