Jason Momoa surprises a young 'Aquaman' fan battling cancer

Jason Momoa lived up as a real-life hero after he surprised seven-year-old "Aquaman" fan Danny Sheehan, who is currently battling a rare form of cancer.

On Instagram, the "Aquaman" star thanked those who told him about Sheehan's story.

"I just wanted to say thank you to the community, friends and family on Instagram for reaching out and showing me this beautiful boy Danny who is going through chemo and has cancer," Momoa wrote on Instagram.

Momoa said that Sheehan's video made him "want to get in touch [with the boy] and FaceTime him and spend some time talking to him." He also asked the folks at Warner Brother's Pictures if they could get Sheehan an "Aquaman" Trident.

Just last month, Sheehan trended on social media after WBC | CBS Boston shared a video of the young boy squealing after opening a present that contained an Aquaman action figure: “Oh my gosh, my favorite one! AQUAMAN!”

In 2017, Sheehan was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer called Pineoblastoma and Leptomeningeal disease, or cancer in the cerebral spinal fluid.

On Sheehan's support page on Facebook, the family reposted the video thanking the media outlet, "for such a beautiful joyous story and for shining more lights on pediatric brain cancer."

They also wrote in another post that they hope the video would put a smile on everyone's faces. "Everyone needs a smile during this dumpster fire of 2020, and it’d be good fun for D if Aquaman and DC caught wind of his adoration."

After news reached Momoa, he reached out to the boy and chatted with him through FaceTime.

"Wanted to share a picture of this amazing boy Danny Sheehan, Natalie his mom sent me this today," the actor wrote.

Momoa and his good friends from Side Show Collectibles and Warner Brother's Pictures gifted him with some action figures and toys, as well as an "Aquaman" trident that Momoa initially requested.

"Can't wait to ride on some dolphins with you Danny!" Momoa wrote on the card. He also called himself "Uncle Aquaman."

Sheehan's mom was in "disbelief" and "shock" but "bursting with joy, thankfulness, and love."

She wrote, "Thank you to #prideofgypsies #jasonmomoa for your beyond kind heart. Thank you for making this call and for making Danny the happiest little boy ever - he can’t wait to ride dolphins with #AQUAMAN!!"

Mrs. Sheehan also thanked all those who shared the video "and made the seemingly impossible of him meeting his superhero hero totally possible!"
