Microsoft brings PC Game Pass to the Philippines
Here’s some good news for Pinoy gamers: a preview of Microsoft’s gaming subscription service is finally coming to the Philippines.
Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it’s bringing a preview of its PC Game Pass to Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines for the first time, providing players access to a library of over 100 high-quality games beginning March 29.
The tech company said that the library includes popular titles such as Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires IV, Sea of Thieves and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Additionally, it also includes new Xbox Game Studios titles on day one like Halo Infinite, as well as iconic franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls from Bethesda Softworks, independent games and blockbusters.
Microsoft also confirmed that the PC Game Pass includes EA Play, allowing players to enjoy iconic franchises like FIFA, Battlefield, The Sims and Mass Effect.
To begin the service, players can join the PC Game Pass preview using the Xbox Insider app, where gamers can also share their feedback as Microsoft works on the local payment systems.
Below are the steps to get started with the PC Game Pass preview:
- Download the Xbox Insider app from the Microsoft Store on Windows.
- After signing into the app with your Microsoft account navigate to the Previews tab and join the PC Game Pass Southeast Asia Market Expansion preview.
- Wait for the registration to complete
- In the preview, launch the Xbox app which can be found in the Microsoft Store on Windows if it’s not already installed.
- Sign into the Xbox app with the same Microsoft account that you used to join the PC Game Pass Southeast Asia Market Expansion preview and then subscribe to PC Game Pass from within the Xbox app.
- After signing up for the service, players can now start downloading and playing games from the library.
The company said that they will announce more details on how to join PC Game Pass when it launches in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam later this year.
“At Xbox, our mission is simple, to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet. Bringing PC Game Pass to new countries in Southeast Asia is an important part of how we will achieve this as we strive to reach billions of players,” Xbox Asia Business lead Jeremy Hinton said.
“PC Game Pass features a large library of high-quality titles from diverse game studios, with experiences from every genre. Xbox Insiders will get the first opportunity to experience the value that PC Game Pass offers, and we look forward to making the service available to more gamers soon,” he added.
Microsoft launched the PC Game Pass in 2019 and was built from the ground up in partnership with the PC gaming community to provide gamers freedom to discover and play a highly curated library of games.
“We’re committed to helping gamers discover their next favorite games, and we are excited to bring these experiences to these new countries in Southeast Asia,” the company said.
