Celebrate History Month with this unique ‘Manila Girls' virtual tour with goodies

Published Aug 16, 2021 2:48 pm

Looking for something fun to do to get a sense of travel while stuck in lockdown?

To celebrate the History Month of August, the Heritage Collective and WanderManila, in cooperation with Akim - Ang Kuwentong Inuwi Mo and Purple Banyan will be offering a special Manila Girls Virtual Tour with some edible goodies.

The online heritage and food tour to be held on August 30, 2021 (Monday) will explore the environs of Tondo, Malate, España (Sampaloc), and Makati, along with unique treats people can enjoy at home.

The Manila Girls are a humorous set of popular districts and locations in Manila and beyond captured in illustrated cartoon form. The characters are a creation of Kenny Tai, an independent artist based in Manila City, who dabbles in illustration, graphic design, animation and designing her own merch under the Akim brand.

According to tour organizer Wander Manila, all four of these places “have rich, complex histories that date back to the Spanish Era (In Tondo's case, precolonial even)” which they will explore in the virtual session.

To make the  experience even more memorable, the tour comes bundled with the latest batch of Manila Girls Goodies, so you can get to know the essence of Manila towns from morning coffee to lunch time juice, and from merienda cravings to happy hour.

The virtual tour package of P999, is inclusive of a specially curated and packaged Manila Girls Goodies Bundle including Rush Hour Makati Cold Brew Coffee, Tondoriffic Salted Egg Butcheron, Baha na naman sa España Sampaloc Juice, and Malate One Night Stand cocktail drink.

The food package will be delivered the day before the tour, with the delivery fee to be shouldered by the participant.

Slots for the virtual tour are very limited, with registration closing on Wednesday (August 25) at 5:00 p.m. For inquiries, visit wandermanila.com or visit their Facebook Page.

The Manila Girls goodies can also be purchased separately from AKIM, with each item priced at below P200 each, and special bundles containing Manila Girls sticker packs.
