Netflix adds content warning to 'Stranger Things 4' after Texas shooting
Following the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Netflix added a content warning to the newest episodes of Stranger Things season 4.
The disclaimer warns viewers that the episodes depict violent content involving children.
"We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one," it read.
The card was added due to the recent shooting in Texas, wherein 19 children and two adults were killed.
The first eight minutes of the first episode were uploaded to YouTube but it was removed after.
"We decided to add the card given the proximity of the premiere to this tragedy—and because the opening scene is very graphic," a Netflix spokesperson told Hollywood Reporter.
The disclaimer will be only shown to viewers in the US, not globally.
