Excited for the Mean Girls movie musical? The first trailer for the upcoming film is finally here.
Paramount dropped the much-awaited teaser late Wednesday, Nov. 8, giving a first look at Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Avantika Vandanapu as Karen Smith, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners, and Reneé Rapp as Regina George.
The video also gave a glimpse of Auli’i Cravalho as Janis I’mi’ike, Jenna Fischer as Cady's mom, Busy Philipps as Regina's mom, Ashley Park as a teacher, and Jon Hamm as Coach Carr.
Mean Girls screenwriter Tina Fey will reprise her Ms. Norbury role, while Saturday Night Live star Tim Meadows will again play the role of Principal Ron Duvall. The new film is directed by Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne, and produced by Fey and Broadway Video’s Lorne Michaels.
Mean Girls revolves around a previously homeschooled teen named Cady Haron (originally played by Lindsay Lohan) who moves from Africa to Illinois. When she enters high school, she gets into a popular group that invites her to sit with them.
The original movie became a pop culture phenomenon when it was released in 2004. With a screenplay based on Rosalind Wiseman's 2002 novel Queen Bees and Wannabees, the film earned over P7.2 billion worldwide. Its Broadway adaptation also received 12 nods at the Tony Awards in 2018.
