Superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, cosplayers, and free ice cream all made cameos in the first day of the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 in Metro Manila today, Feb. 7.

At the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan, Spider-Man, Iron Man, as well as Wonder Woman of DC Comics graced the city's pediatric vaccination drive.

Elsa of Disney's animated film Frozen also made an appearance to charm the children in attendance.

A mascot of Mayor Francis Zamora can also be seen mingling with children and having photos taken.

San Juan also gave children long balloons that can be transformed into animals and other shapes.

At a mall in Quezon City, meanwhile, healthcare workers donned carnival-themed costumes, complete with wigs, gloves, Christmas balls, glitters, even a rainbow-colored lollipop-like wand.

Mayor Joy Belmonte and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. oversaw the city's pediatric vaccination drive.

Some of the city's health workers also wore costumes inspired by the Transformers franchise.

At the Philippine Heart Center, kids also got sweet treats in the form of free ice cream after receiving their COVID-19 jabs.

At the Lakeshore Vaccination Hub in Taguig, meanwhile, it's Peppa Pig and Baby Yoda that kept the children company as they get their vaccines.

Another vaccination site in the city also had a carnival theme, while also featuring other MCU characters like Thor and Captain America.

Puppeteers and ventriloquists also entertained children during Taguig's pediatric vaccination drive.

Children have also been given coloring materials while waiting for their turn to get their COVID-19 jabs.

The COVID-19 vaccination drive among the age group was initially set on Feb. 4 before it was moved to Feb. 7 due to "logistical challenges," according to the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH has designated 32 vaccination centers in Metro Manila that would initially cater to the 5- to 11-year-olds. The COVID-19 pediatric vaccination drive will be expanded to other areas outside of the capital in the coming days.

Over 168,000 children in the age group have been registered, the agency noted.
