Martin quickly regained composure, quipping, “That’s not planned!”
“Holy s**t, that was nearly a YouTube moment,” he added after thanking a crew member for catching him.
The incident occurred during Coldplay’s four-show run at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium for their Music of the Spheres World Tour, which has been running since March 2022. The band had a two-day stop at Philippine Arena last January, where they did a surprise rendition of Raining in Manila with Lola Amour.
The group—consisting of vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion—is set to continue the tour until September next year, finishing the Australian leg in Sydney before heading to their next stops.
They're known for the hits Viva La Vida, Fix You, Yellow, The Scientist, and A Sky Full of Stars, among others. They released their 10th studio album, Moon Music, last month.
