'White Chicks' star Marlon Wayans debunks sequel rumors
Please don't have a "BF" or b*tch fit on this—there's no sequel to the 2004 cult classic White Chicks, according to its star Marlon Wayans.
Over the past few days, several Facebook pages have been sharing a movie poster credited to a certain @nextbigwriter and @jayla_designs. It's labeled White Chicks 2 and showed a photo of Marlon and his brother Shawn in a suit and tie as the movie's FBI agent characters, as well as their blonde women alter egos.
But Marlon in a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 17 has debunked the rumors of a sequel that have been going around.
"Not true … AT ALL!" he said, as he shared the poster in question.
Marlon has already expressed his misgivings over a White Chicks sequel in the past.
In a video interview with GQ in May 2022, he said White Chicks took seven hours of makeup, 14 hours of filming, and another hour of taking their makeup off. Yet, he said they still had to hang out with the cast members.
"That movie almost killed us," he said. "Shawn and I would get like two hours of sleep every day for like 65 days."
Unless the makeup can be done "digitally," Marlon isn't keen on a sequel.
"That’s a lot of work. Everybody’s like, ‘Do White Chicks 2,’ I’m like, ‘F—k yourself, you do White Chicks 2!'"
In another video interview with Esquire in October 2022, Marlon said he's more interested in doing a sequel portraying a Black character rather than a White (woman). Moreover, he said makeup for such a role will only take about 15 minutes. Marlon appeared in movies like Scary Movie, G.I. Joe, Norbit, and Naked.
Last February though, the Wayans brothers in a joint Instagram post shared a video montage containing scenes from the iconic movie.
"All this nostalgia makes us want to write part 2," an excerpt from their caption read.
White Chicks follows two FBI agents who go undercover as two blonde hotel heiresses via whiteface and cross-dressing, as the ones they're imitating are supposedly the next victims of a high-profile kidnapping involving socialites.
Other cast members include Terry Crews, Busy Philipps, Jennifer Carpenter, Jessica Cauffiel, Jaime King, Brittany Daniel, Maitland Ward, Anne Dudek, Eddie Velez, Lochlyn Munro, Frankie Faison, and John Heard. Keenen Ivory Wayans served as director, while Marlon and Shawn are also co-producers.
White Chicks became a cult classic, with its scenes and lines still being shared on social media—and legions of fans demanding a sequel over the past few years.
Shawn and Keenen have yet to comment on the matter.
