‘Love, Death and Robots’ renewed for Season 4
Get ready for more horror, science fiction and fantasy on the small screen. Netflix’s animated anthology Love, Death and Robots is getting a fourth season.
The streamer announced the renewal of the adult animated series on Friday, Aug. 12 via Instagram. Created by Tim Miller and produced by Blur Studio, the series consists of stand-alone episodes done in different animation styles and produced by creative studios from around the world.
"Love Death + Robots Volume IV is a GO," the caption reads, while a neon box flashes Volume F***!.
The series returned to Netflix last May 20 for its third installment, with nine memorable new episodes including Jibaro, Mason’s Rats and the return of robo-tourists from Volume 1 in Three Robots: Exit Strategies. Seasons 1 and 2 aired in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
Love, Death + Robots has won 12 Emmy Awards to date, including nabbing its third straight nomination for best short form animated program.
Spanish director Alberto Mielgo recently won the juried Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for the Season 3 episode Jibaro, which tells the toxic love story between a siren and a deaf knight who is immune to her deadly charms. The two become infatuated with each other which leads to disastrous results.
Like the third season, Volume 4 of Love, Death and Robots will consist of nine episodes.
Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who took over showrunning duties from David Fincher after volume 1 will be involved in the next season as Supervising Director. Tim Miller, David Fincher, Jennifer Miller, and Joshua Donen will continue as executive producers in the fourth volume.
Netflix provided a brief synopsis on what to expect going into the fourth volume: “Terror, imagination and beauty combine in nine new episodes which stretch from uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror and science-fiction with trademark wit and visual invention.”
No animation studios and release date have been confirmed yet for volume 4.
