Looking for tracks to listen during the holidays? These 12 K-pop songs should be on your Christmas playlist
The Christmas season is finally here! Of course, what better way to welcome the festive season than adding holiday-themed songs to your playlist.
We get it, nothing beats the classics like Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You or Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas in Our Hearts when it comes to holiday-themed tracks. But, it doesn’t hurt to perk up your old playlist with wholesome K-pop songs that are just as special.
If you’re still unsure what track to sing along to during the holidays, we’ve listed down a dozen K-pop Christmas songs to listen to during the festive season.
1. On The Snow by EXO
There’s something about EXO’s holiday songs that feel cozy and homey—On The Snow is no different. This nostalgic track talks about “following” a lover during the snowy season. Even if there’s no snow in the country, it’s the perfect track to listen to as you walk on a road filled with Christmas lights.
2. Merry & Happy by TWICE
Just like the title of the title itself, Merry & Happy feels like the perfect track to listen to as you welcome the Christmas season. This carol talks about welcoming the holidays with a joyful spirit.
3. I’m All Ears by Taeyeon
Taeyeon’s 2017 album This Christmas: Winter is Coming feels like a warm hug to fans, and I’m All Ears is one of the standouts. This song is far from your typical cheerful holiday tracks since it talks about being someone’s source of comfort during the chilly season.
4. Confession Song by GOT7
Who needs a partner this Christmas when you can just stream Confession Song by GOT7? This heart-fluttering track talks about confessing your feelings to someone you love during the holidays. To those who are celebrating the holidays with a partner, you’re not allowed to stream this track. Kidding!
5. Snow Candy by Sistar, K.Will, and Boyfriend
Snow Candy is nostalgic for 2nd Generation K-pop fans since this collab features Sistar, Boyfriend, and K.Will. This track is a surprise gift from Starship Entertainment at that time since it was dropped out of nowhere. (There were no concept teasers or anything. Just a group photo.) Sadly, the two groups have already disbanded, as of this writing.
6. Dear Santa (English Version) by Girl’s Generation-TTS
Girl’s Generation-TTS is a subunit with powerhouse vocalists Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun, so Dear Santa was a surprise for fans at that time. It’s more laidback compared to their previous releases yet their voices didn’t disappoint. From the chilling ballad in the intro to the sudden transition into sleigh bells, this track feels like a sweet treat. Check out the Korean version here.
7. The Carol by Loona
Loona’s universe is one of the most unique concepts in K-pop, but The Carol is proof they can pull off Christmas-themed concepts too. Performed by members Haseul, Heejin, and Hyunjin, this uplifting track talks about opening your heart to a significant other. Fun fact: this is actually a pre-debut track from the girl group.
8. Melt My Heart by Eric Nam
“Your sweet scent, your soft touch / Tell me baby that I’m not dreaming.” Eric Nam is a master of charming listeners with his voice. Melt My Heart is a good example. This kilig track talks about being thankful for spending the season with the person you love.
9. Crystal Snow by BTS
From mental health, current issues, to Christmas, BTS has a song to suit your every mood. Crystal Snow feels like a sad Christmas tale since it’s about two young lovers who meet each other on a snowy day. Sadly, they’re forced to be apart from each other as the snow melts. RM actually participated in writing the lyrics of this Japanese track—which shows his talent in songwriting.
10. Wish Tree by Red Velvet
Wish Tree is a dream come true for Red Velvet’s fans (or Reveluvs). With the girl group’s harmonious voices, it’s a no-brainer they would suit Christmas ballads perfectly. This song is beautiful and heartbreaking, as it talks about making an impossible wish.
11. The Winter’s Tale by BTOB
If you’re looking for a Christmas song that feels like the opening of a K-drama, The Winter’s Tale is the one for you. This track is about wishing a former lover well even if the relationship didn’t work out.
12. Miracles in December by EXO
A K-pop Christmas playlist is not complete without EXO’s Miracles of December. This heartbreaking ballad feels like a desperate plea to freeze time to be with someone you love. It’s a song that shows off the vocal abilities of Kyungsoo, Chen, and Baekhyun as they seamlessly blend into one unit. Don’t miss out on the Chinese version featuring Chen and Baekhyun along with former member Luhan.
