'Totally Spies' is returning after almost a decade with a new look
Prepare for some totally fantastic news: the hit animated series Totally Spies! will be returning to your television screens soon—almost a decade after its last episode aired in 2013.
The show has been picked up by Warner Bros. Discovery and will once again be aired on Cartoon Network in 2024.
In case you've forgotten all about the show, Totally Spies! follows the lives of three teenage girls from Beverly Hills, USA–Sam, Clover, and Alex. Behind their glamorous lives, the girls secretly double as agents working for an organization that's dedicated towards protecting the world from evil forces.
The series garnered popularity for its premise of having the girls balance their lives as high school students while dealing with the chaos and danger of their undercover job. It is also known for the gadgets and equipment the iconic spy trio use for their missions, which take the form of feminine or teenage personal care items.
But when it comes to reviving a beloved classic cartoon show, it can't be denied that many are not so happy with this decision as reboots often fail to live up to the original.
However, according to a press release by production company Banijay Kids & Family, CEO Benoît Di Sabatino assured fans that the seventh season "stays true to all the key elements that make the show so popular, but has been lovingly updated for a new audience, reflecting the modern challenges faced by both high-schoolers and spies alike."
Meanwhile, acquisitions and co-productions manager Aurelie Wack highlighted that the show is committed to showcasing "strong female leads and a diverse offering of modern themes."
Stephane Berry, who directed five previous seasons of the show, will return to helm the new episodes. The spy trio will also sport an updated look to them while still retaining their colourful latex jumpsuits.
