'Twilight' animated series confirmed to be in the works at Lionsgate
Haven't had enough of Bella and Edward's thrilling love in Twilight? Here's some good news for you: The fantasy-romance offering is set to be developed as an animated series.
Lionsgate’s vice chairman Michael Burns confirmed the news at a recently concluded media conference, entertainment outlet Deadline reported.
“We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that,” Burns said.
According to the report, the animated series will be based on Stephanie Meyer’s book series.
The upcoming show was first reported to be in the early stage of development in April 2023, with Wyck Godfrey and former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig to executive produce the project.
Other details including its plot, cast, and release date are yet to be revealed.
Meyer’s book series was adapted into a film franchise starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. Known as Twilight Saga, it comprised the title film, New Moon, Eclipse, and two parts of Breaking Dawn, which premiered from 2008 to 2012. It grossed more than $3.4 billion globally.
Aside from Twilight, Burns also announced that they are planning to come up with a TV series adaptation of the action-thriller film John Wick starring Keanu Reeves, following the prequel miniseries The Continental, which was released in 2023.
